Jonathan Sepúlveda, known professionally as Pablo Arts, is a Chilean artist and graphic designer based in Hamilton, New Zealand. His practice brings together the visual language of graphic design with expressive painting, creating works that explore the relationship between people and the natural world.
Working primarily in acrylic and oil, Sepúlveda is inspired by Aotearoa’s distinctive wildlife and landscapes. His paintings celebrate the beauty and character of native species while drawing attention to their fragility and the importance of protecting the environments they inhabit.
Through expressive colour, rich texture and considered composition, Sepúlveda creates artworks that balance visual impact with a deeper environmental message. His approach reflects both his artistic background and his interest in visual communication, using imagery to tell stories and encourage viewers to pause and consider their relationship with nature.
His Nature in Your Hands series focuses on New Zealand’s native wildlife, inviting audiences to look more closely at the species that share this land with us. The works celebrate the resilience and uniqueness of Aotearoa’s natural heritage while asking us to consider our shared responsibility to care for it.
Sepúlveda’s practice ultimately seeks to create a connection — between image and viewer, people and nature, beauty and responsibility.
