Chen Yong is a Beijing and Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice is driven by a desire to express his perception of reality, personal uncertainties and aspirations for transformation.

Rather than working within a predetermined medium or artistic genre, Chen allows the idea and act of expression to determine the form of each work. His practice moves fluidly between spatial installation, painting, installation painting, paper cutting, sculpture and video, often incorporating digital technology, new materials and everyday objects.

Chen’s works resist straightforward classification, instead creating layered encounters that invite viewers to consider different perspectives and emotional states.
