Gaye Jurisich

Gaye Jurisich is a Kirikiriroa Hamilton-based painter and sculptor renowned for her large-scale, site-specific installations made from unconventional materials including crop twine, plastic and wire. Blending humour, colour and experimentation, her work transforms everyday materials into immersive sculptural environments that challenge perceptions of scale and place.

Gaye won the 2019 Fieldays No. 8 Wire National Art Award, and her work is held in the Waikato Museum collection. In 2023, Waikato Museum presented The Jurisich Experience, a major solo survey celebrating the breadth and impact of her practice.

For City of Wonder, Gaye's work is presented at Dot & Winnie's Eatery, where contemporary art meets hospitality. The pairing reflects her playful and accessible practice, inviting visitors to encounter bold sculptural works in a welcoming social setting and experience art as part of everyday life.
